Portsoy is a welcoming small town, with a lot going on for it’s size. It has a fantastic sense of community, with the caravan park, the 4 star Salmon Bothy museum, the Sail Loft Bunkhouse and the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival all being run by the community for the community. It is centred around it’s 2 historic seventeenth and nineteenth century harbours, the area little changed in years: it was used as the film setting for the recent remake of Whisky Galore and last series of Peaky Blinders. The fishing industry has largely moved on, but you can often see the town’s two St Ayles skiffs rowing out from the harbour. There are some fantastic walks round Portsoy! If you walk westwards, past the old swimming pool carved out amongst the rocks, along the rugged coastline towards Sandend (pronounced ‘Sanine’) or further along to Findlater Castle, Sunnyside Beach and Cullen. Eastwards try the Coastguard’s path, with views across to Troups' Head. There is the Shore Inn between the cottage and the harbours, some great cafes and the new Aspire Restaurant… and of course the award winning Portsoy Ice Cream shop. The Banffshire coast is one of the world’s outstanding coastlines, says the National Geographic. Natural beauty combines with plentiful wildlife – there are dolphins, seals, puffins and other seabirds in abundance, if you are lucky enough to see them. Fishing villages all along the coast perch on clifftops, or crouch precariously at the water’s edge, with the oldest houses built gable-end on to the weather and the waves. In the summer, the light up here is special, days are near endless. Winter skies are dark and starry and – with a bit of luck – you might even see the Northern Lights! We hope you will visit Portsoy and discover this often overlooked, largely midge free corner of the North East of Scotland for yourselves!

At street level, the open plan lounge living area is bright and modern, with high vaulted ceilings. At one end there are two leather sofas and a 55 inch wall mounted tv. At the other end is a well equipped and modern kitchen with a dining table and 4 chairs. The two areas are separated by a feature oak staircase with it’s glass balustrades. The lighting is designed to fit your mood, whether you want brightness on a gloomy day or mood lighting of an evening. There is a handy utility room off the kitchen. Here you will find the washing machine, a retractable indoor drying line, cleaning equipment, and iron and board, extra storage and a shower room and toilet. Downstairs, there are two bedrooms, both sumptuously carpeted. The master bedroom has a king size double bed with small reading lights and bedside shelves, a chest of drawers and leaning ladder clothes organisers (instead of a traditional wardrobe). It has a beautiful, roomy ensuite. The huge walk in shower has both a fixed drencher as well as a hand held shower head. And if you want to soak in luxury the deep bath fits the bill! The spacious second bedroom has been furnished for flexibility. The single oak bed has a guest bed, so the room can be made up for one or two people. If the second bed is not needed, it can be stored away, leaving plenty of space for a desk and chair, should you need to work (or have space for a surly teenage to game!) Guests in this room will either use the master ensuite or the shower room upstairs but it does have it's own ensuite ‘loo’. There is also a door out to the patio area. Outside there is a storage area for the waste and recycling bins and wooden steps down to the two lockable sheds, should you wish to store bikes, surf boards, SUPs or whatever. The small enclosed patio area is currently still awaiting landscaping. There is a gate from this level out onto the old railway line, now a footpath leading down to the harbour, The Shore Inn, and the Wally Green.

6 Seatown provides comfortable and cosy accommodation in a stunning location, just opposite the old bridge to the fabulous East Beach and an easy walk to the woods along the river's edge. Lounge Two sofa's, real woodburning stove, dining table & 4 chairs, satellite TV, DVD player, CD player and Wi-Fi. The lounge opens out into the galley kitchen. Kitchen Well-equipped with 5 ring cooker with double oven, a kettle, toaster, dishwasher, cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine, crockery, cutlery, glasses and cooking utensils. Master Bedroom King Size double bed on the ground floor, suitable for guests with limited mobility. Twin Bedroom & Snug Both upstairs, because of their low ceilings, we have kitted these out as a children's twin room and a 'den' - complete with bean bags, a toy chest and a second TV & DVD player. Bathroom Three piece bathroom suite with shower over the bath, situated on the ground floor. Garden Outside there is a garden shed with a small freezer and tumble dryer, garden furniture and small bbq where you can also store your own bikes or surfboard etc. The garden is fairly sheltered and secluded. The cottage is WIFI enabled and has a telephone which receives incoming calls. Prices Prices range from £385 per week in the off peak winter months to £750 per week in the high summer. There is a supplement of £10 per dog, should you wish to bring one (or two!), but we do ask that they are kept out of the bedrooms and not allowed on the furniture. The price includes all linen, towels, heating, electricity and a welcome pack with the basic necessities for that first cooked breakfast.

To the left off the hallway is the lounge, with a comfortable corner settee and a second inglenook fireplace, this time with a gas 'coal effect' burning stove. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a king size double bed and one with twin beds and the bathroom. Lounge Large corner sofa, inglenook fireplace with a gas 'coal effect' burning stove, Freeview TV and DVD player, CD player, Ipod docking station and radio. Kitchen Fitted kitchen with electric double oven with gas hob, microwave, fridge, crockery, cutlery, glasses and cooking utensils. Washing machine and dishwasher. Due to space constraints the tumble dryer and freezer are in the shed. Living/Dining Room Spacious living/dining room with dining table and seating for 6 plus 2 settees. Inglenook fireplace with 'wood effect' gas burning stove and TV. Master Bedroom King Size double bed with cool, crisp Egyptian cotton bed linen and all seasons duvet. Wardrobe and chest of drawers. Large window with window seat cushions – the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine whilst savouring the river and beachfront views? Twin Bedroom Twin beds, with space for a camp bed offering accommodation for one additional child. Wardrobe and chest of drawers. Large window with window seat cushions also with stunning views. Bathroom Three piece bathroom suite (shower over bath). Garden Outside there is a gravelled hardstanding providing off-street parking for 2 cars, and a small very open beachfront patio garden. Garden furniture and a barbeque are provided in the shed. The cottage has fibre optic broadband.
